Synopsis Sample Chapter
Rick Sikes and The Rhythm Rebels traveled the roads of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and California, playing their own brand of music. It was the early beginning of "outlaw" music. On these 45 rpm records from the 1960's, you will hear the smooth voice of Rick Sikes singing his ballads. In contrast, his brother, Bobby Sikes (Track 10), takes you back to the birth of rockabilly music. A song penned by Rick Sikes and sung by Mark Scott (Track 9) depicts the hopelessness of a convict on death row. "Den of Sins" (Track 3) was a #1 hit in Denmark while "Valley of Tears" (Track 2) charted in California. It was a time when Texas honky-tonk music ruled.
