Transforming a city girl into the country girl occurred when the Bowdens left Houston Texas and settled in the deep Piney Forest of East Texas. The land was cleared. Home built. Garden tilled and planted. Next her story begins.

Learning to harvest, consume and preserve the food they grew to the canning food/preservation recipes from ancestors that are written and recorded in her historical cookbooks. The family became aware that FRESH air and nutrition were essential to their well-being.

Lurlene’s art passion began as a technical illustrator for NASA in Clear Lake, Texas botanical illustrator for the University of Texas, art teacher for the North Richland Hills Civic Center, North Richland Hills Texas, Tarrant County Art Council for the Dallas Texas Metroplex, Rusk, Texas Civic Center, private Christian Academies, and Bowden Art Studio.
