Kerry
Johnston has never been to seminary or held a pastoral position, and writes
about spiritual life from his personal experience, his ongoing walk with the
Lord, and out of a deep passion to see the church become all God intended for it
to be, one person at a time. He figures a lot of churches offer too much
religion and not enough relationship, and would like to see that change.
He is a
native Texan, retired Fire Captain, writer, and ordinary guy. He likes Tex-Mex
food, hawks and hummingbirds, and thunder and lightning. He enjoys reading
about World War Two and is especially interested in the aircraft of that era.
Kerry’s
firefighting career spanned 33 years and two fire departments in Texas. He
responded to the crash of Delta flight 191 at D/FW Airport and to hundreds of
other lesser incidents, each one interesting in its own way. He retired from
the fire service in 2012.
He
currently resides in Austin, Texas with his wife Carla and two cats. He has one
grandson and is the father of three wonderful children, one of whom has
preceded him to heaven.
